Laura Boyle has been teaching science at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep since January 2010. She graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology. After working as a professional ecologist for several years she completed a Master of Science in Education at Quincy University in August of 2011. During her time at Brooks, she has taught Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science and AP Environmental Science. She has actively participated in the Teaching and Learning Committee at Brooks for the last two years. In January 2014 Ms. Boyle started working with the Urban Teacher Education Program at University of Chicago. This program aims to educate and prepare preservice teachers for an urban education setting. As a Clinical Instructor for the program, she mentors student teachers and attends professional development on coaching, observing, debriefing, and assessing the residents.
